Little Greene and Paint & Paper Library press trip to Notting Hill

In January 2020, our clients, the paint and wallpaper manufacturers Little Greene and Paint & Paper Library, both launched a new wallpaper collection. To present both collections to a select group of journalists, we embarked on a two-day press trip to the colorful Notting Hill, London.

The first day of the press trip was dedicated to the launch of Little Greene’s latest wallpaper collection, ‘National Trust Papers’. Journalists and stylists from Amsterdam and Brussels gathered at London Heathrow. The press group consisted of (chief) editors and/or stylists from interior magazines such as Elle Decoration, Eigen Huis & Interieur, Residence, Seasons, Wonen Landelijke Stijl, Ariadne, as well as from interior content agencies Dutch Style Company and Design Press.

On to Osterley Park; a glorious country house set within a beautiful park of the same name. Like many other country houses, Osterley Park is maintained by the National Trust. Little Greene has been collaborating with the National Trust since January 2018 and has access to its treasure trove of colors, patterns, and motifs from its archives. Osterley Park was once a country residence for a wealthy London family, used for festive occasions. We received a tour and admired various rooms. The main staircase and hall of Osterley Park feature an original soft green color, which Little Greene has added to the ‘Green’ color palette. This green hue has been named Windmill Lane, after the avenue that borders the park on the east side.

After the tour, Little Greene showcased its latest wallpaper collection, ‘National Trust Papers,’ in the stables of the country house. It is an eclectic collection of modern wallpaper designs based on original designs from the esteemed property portfolio of the National Trust. The wallpaper collection features 40 color schemes across seven designs. It represents timeless patterns spanning 200 years, from the early 18th century to the early 20th century. The wallpaper designs are based on originals found in National Trust buildings across the country, including wallpapers that still adorn old walls, fragments preserved in archive drawers, and even saved rolls of wallpaper discovered in an attic.

Day two focused on Paint & Paper Library. After a refreshing morning walk through the stylish streets of Notting Hill, we headed to the new Little Greene and Paint & Paper Library showroom on Westbourne Grove. Over ‘coffee & biscuits,’ Paint & Paper Library introduced ‘Botany’: its second wallpaper collection and a follow-up to the recent ‘Tresco’ collection. The designs of Botany continue the botanical theme of Tresco, inspired by exotic flora, leaf motifs, and decorative patterns as observed by the traveling artist. In total, the Botany wallpaper collection consists of 52 color combinations applied across 9 different patterns. Each design is originally hand-drawn or painted. By organizing the Botany wallpaper according to the color palette and carefully combining chosen paint shades, the designs suit both classical and eclectic interiors beautifully.

After viewing all the new wallpaper patterns, it was time for a wallpaper workshop led by Jenny Luck, one of the color specialists from Little Greene and Paint & Paper Library. She taught the journalists how to combine wallpaper in various rooms of the home.

It was two delightful days filled with inspiration, color, and patterns!
