In collaboration with Residence, our client, Paint & Paper Library, held an inspiring color masterclass on Thursday, October 27, at the ETC Design Center in Culemborg. Paint & Paper Library is a distinguished British paint and wallpaper brand that has been available in the Netherlands for five years through exclusive paint and wallpaper dealers. Paint & Paper Library is the sister brand of Little Greene, and together the brands fall under The Little Greene Paint Company. Founder and CEO David Mottershead, alongside his daughter Ruth Mottershead, Creative Director, came to the Netherlands to share insights with Residence readers about color, specifically focusing on how to apply color in interior design.
During a morning and afternoon session, many color topics were covered. Ruth and David discussed the power of color, the proportions of color combinations and what to look out for, the effects of different lighting conditions on color, why some colors work together, and others do not, how to apply color in numerous ways within interiors, and how to play with color on architectural elements. Both bold color schemes and soothing color palettes were addressed. While the latest color trends were certainly discussed, the emphasis remained that choosing color is a personal matter. It’s about selecting colors that make you feel good, regardless of current trends.
It was a colorful day! About 60 Residence readers attended the Paint & Paper Library color masterclass and left feeling inspired. Not only did they gain numerous new insights into color, but they also took home a well-filled goody bag to start experimenting at home.
