Close your eyes and imagine this: windows filled with the most beautiful Christmas decorations and outfits, lights in the trees wherever you look, the scent of pine needles and hot chocolate, cheerful Christmas songs playing from the speakers in the cozy, bustling shops, and finally, the always beautifully lit Big Ben in the background. We don’t need to tell anyone that London is the place to be in the weeks leading up to Christmas. So, on behalf of Little Greene, we invited a select group of journalists to join us for a week in London before Christmas. To experience the Christmas spirit there for themselves and for the presentation of Little Greene’s latest wallpaper collection, London Wallpapers IV.
The latest collection from Little Greene, London Wallpapers IV, is a unique collection of authentic patterns originating from the London area. By applying a new scale and new colors, these vintage patterns have been made suitable for modern interiors.
Seven enthusiastic journalists were already waiting early at Schiphol; Charlotte Balder (Residence), Evelien Reich (Elle Decoration), Tinneke Vos (Wonen Landelijke Stijl), Renske Schriemer (Design Press), José Molenaar (Eigen Huis & Interieur), Mirjam Roskamp (Home & Garden), and Veronique Helmink (Herenhuis). Together with us, they flew to London. The neighborhood where we stayed, and where the Little Greene showroom is located: Marylebone. One of the trendiest and most vibrant districts in London. It’s perfect for shopping, and the area is filled with lively cafés and beautiful galleries.
Upon arrival in London, we enjoyed an extensive lunch, and then headed to the presentation of London Wallpapers IV at the Little Greene London showroom. David Mottershead (owner) and Ruth Mottershead (Marketing Manager) wanted to personally tell and show the journalists how special their latest wallpaper collection is. David said: “We take our role as custodians of these archival patterns very seriously. The original fragments of wallpaper are treated with the respect they deserve. We truly enjoy this process and are proud to bring them back to life.” London Wallpapers consists of 12 designs with a total of 58 wallpapers in an appealing palette of classic and contemporary color schemes, complemented by subtly printed textures.
With our heads in the Christmas spirit, we flew back to Schiphol at the end of the second day, ready to apply the ideas and impressions we gained in London and at Little Greene in our own homes or work.
